App sucks do not get.
This app is kind of garbage. I’ve learned some vocabulary but not the actual language. There need to be fundamentals to build a foundation - like how to conjugate verbs, and the freaking alphabet if it doesn’t align directly with your native language. There’s nothing methodical or systematic about the “teaching” - you either figure it out for yourself or you’re screwed. And the app is glitchy. Sometimes in a lesson it’ll just decide I’m not saying a word correctly even though I am - I’ll have to yell it over and over again and sometimes it never accepts it. That’s super fun. It’s fine if you just want to learn words, but there’s no way someone is learning to speak a new language from this app.
getting the same questions wrong over 30 times with that annoying bird popping up every time is arguably worse than being skinned alive

This app is okay for language learning but it is very buggy and can only really teach you vocabulary and if you already know some of the language l, and try to find your level but there is one little word you don’t know then the lesson will send you to a low level and you have to build back up.Also what kind of learning app has a gambling system and this many in app purchases

I have had this app for only 5 days and I think it is great. The only thing I don’t like is that you have to have energy to do a lesson. I just want to learn French and worrying about energy is annoying. (Edit) This app is a lot better when you have super duolingo. I have it now and it is nice to have unlimited energy. This is a great app. The only annoying thing is I wish you could do the music lessons on an actual piano because I don’t see how tapping and holding down notes actually teaches you how to play piano. (Edit) ok so I was just doing a speaking lesson and I’ve come across this issue many times with Duolingo. A lot of times I’ll will be using Duolingo and I’ll do a speaking exercise or lesson. The way it listens is horrible and I get it wrong even when I’m saying it like the recording. It’s really irritating and I have to talk in a different tone for it to mark it correctly. I already cancelled my Super subscription within my Apple subscriptions management but Duolingo is still attempting to charge me ahead of my subscription end date. This violates the TOS and shouldn’t be possible because I did not subscribe to the service outside of my Apple account. This is shady business practice. I wonder how many users they’ve done this to who haven’t noticed? Absolutely unethical!

We all know this app is fantastic. It genuinely helps me with my mediocre Spanish (my partner is Dominican and our children are growing up bilingual so I use it to keep up and communicate better with his family). The best is that we love chess too, so if I’m not in the mood for Spanish one night, I maintain my streak with a fun chess lesson. Mainly leaving this review to say this latest app icon that looks like a doodle is my fav of all time. Thanks for always giving me a chuckle with your ads and little in-app jokes and animations Duo team!! One of the best apps of all time… obvi
I genuinely hope this company sees this and learns to improve. I work an office job, and during my free time I use the PC version of Duolingo for my Japanese lessons. Upon using the ios version, there are MULTIPLE things that are not implemented in the PC version. First off, NONE of the words in my units on ios are words that I have learned on PC, which the app is claiming I have already learned. So, instead of teaching me these new words, Duolingo feeds me to the wolves and makes me guess a word I don’t know. This has left me frustrated and confused, as I feel like I’m now not making any progress on PC. Second, mic features are no longer available on PC. I’ve been a long time member (since 2014) and mic features were implemented when I first joined. They are now an ios only feature, and a fat chunk of it is behind a paywall. Third, hearts are still available on PC, but they have now introduced… a battery on ios? With each question you answer, you lose “energy” on this battery. Yep, no
Duolingo really has helped me with learning new languages and has helped me be consistent with my learning. They also have music and math so you can actually learn school subjects. Duolingo is awesome!

Sometimes I have to repeat the correct word over and over again several times to get it to be recognized. It’s awful. No way to report bugs/isuues I cringe every time there’s an update for this app because I don’t know what feature they’re going to break because they didn’t test well enough. And if you find a problem, there’s no easy way to report it or no way at all to report it. I also begin to question their linguistics. They ask you for a translation and they want you to use an English word in Italian when a perfectly good Italian word exists. Or they ask you to translate or use a word that you haven’t learned yet. What used to be a fun language-learning game is now full of AI-generated garbage. The texts are all made with AI and the flash card “hints” are terrible— if you’re typing instead of speaking (I’m using the Spanish lessons right now) they won’t accept the female form of a noun that can be either, and a good third of the English hints can mean more than one word in Spanish, but you have no way of knowing which until you input one. I’m probably going to bow out when my membership expires this year unless they make some serious turn-arounds and start using real people to check their grammar again. I was really enjoying building my vocabulary in various languages, so I’m probably going to try another app instead.
If you don’t pay the 167$ a year there is no point of you getting this app you’ll do one lesson and run out of energy by the end of it unless u pay the premium account please download a different app if u are looking to really learn a language for free this app u can’t get thru two lessons a day without paying 167$
This does not only teach you languages it tell you how to play play chess piano and all sorts of different things.it has some fun challenges and event this is amazing

Would love to see some customizations like focusing numbers, colors, days of the week, and months would love to be able to create flashcards. Would love to be able understand articles better. Ai helps me where you can’t.

Canvas has recently been hacked, they are asking Instructure for a ransom and currently canvas has been converted into a malware that will activate on your device at the end of the day of May 12th, uninstall before than unless you want to get your files leaked.

Very laggy and annoying to use. Modules aren’t organized and everything is just AWFUL to use. Good thing we are switching to Google Classroom. Google Classroom is less laggy, so think about this as a recommendation to tell your school to NOT use canvas.
